Albert Einstein & Authentic Self Empowerment

Einstein's Authentic Self Empowerment

The ultimate trick your mind plays on you is the way in which you view yourself.

A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
-Albert Einstein

That sounds good Albert, but how do we snap out of our optical delusion of consciousness and free ourselves to be Authentic (compassionate) human beings?

We should start by creating sufficient space in our awareness in order to establish the type of perception that sees beyond the mind’s little optical delusions.

Authentic Self Empowerment (ASE) is the process of establishing broader perspectives and then enabling our actions to be inspired by an expanded sense of self that sees the ‘bigger picture’.

Here’s an ASE approach to help you achieve the above:

  1. Put your attention onto something that is important or meaningful to you.
    .
  2. Then imagine you can look down at yourself in that situation as if you are viewing it from outer space or heaven. Get the big picture! Realise how that situation fits into the greater scheme of life.
    .
  3. Notice all the options you have from this expanded perspective… then ask…
What can I learn about myself in relation to that situation?
    .
  4. From this expanded state choose the most suitable, ecological and compassionate outcome in that situation.
    .
  5. Now, take your broader perspective and bring it into your body. With this in awareness ask…
What is the next smallest step I will take toward my desired outcome?

A Youtube video teaching the basic ASE approach is also available. The video was recorded in 2007 during the early days of ASE’s development and although the methodology has evolved significantly since then, you may find that what you will learn from the video helps to make sense of the 5 steps above so that you can begin applying ASE in your life immediately.

 .

The ASE approach outlined in this post is designed to create expanded awareness in a different way to the approach shared in the previous post on this subject. Try them both, and see which one works best for you.

.
Inwards then outwards and then back in again – either way – the Authentic answers are there!
